My love for abstract art and modern architecture began young — long before I had the words for it. I'm a self-taught artist, and creativity has been the constant thread through every chapter of my life, even the ones that took me far from a studio.
In my twenties, I painted murals across Southern California, and it was during my time at UC Long Beach that two things took hold: the laid-back rhythm of the SoCal beach scene, and the pulse of L.A.'s vibrant, diverse art world. It was also there that I fell in love with Early Modernism and Mid-Century Modern design — an influence that still shapes how I think about form today.
That passion led me to launch a furniture company, where I designed custom resin pieces for boutique hotels. It was a formative, hands-on education in material, scale, and how art lives in a space rather than simply hanging on a wall.
Life then took an unexpected turn into the corporate world, where I spent the next 20 years as a business partner. I never fully left art behind — I kept a small circle of clients that let me stay connected, even in spare moments. When I retired at 53, I returned to art without hesitation. It's not something I do. It's who I am.
Today, I work in liquid metal — I describe my work simply as Minimalism with Strength.
I'm drawn to creating work that exists beyond the flat surface, because I believe art should enhance an environment, not just decorate it. Sculptural form invites a different kind of attention — texture pulls people in before meaning does, creating a more intimate, physical connection between viewer and object. By stripping away color, I ask the viewer to slow down and notice what's left: the play of light and shadow, the intricate patterns etched into metal, the quiet strength of bold form and raw material.
Each piece is labor-intensive by nature — built in layers through spraying, sanding, and polishing — a slow, physical process that mirrors the patience and discipline behind the work itself.
